Craniosacral Therapy for ADHD in Adults and Kids
Attention deficit disorder (ADD) is an outdated term sometimes used for the inattentive type presentation of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a neurotype characterized by traits inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. The term ADD is often used to describe people with inattentive and impulsive traits but without characteristics of hyperactivity.
Without proper support and accommodation, people wit-h ADHD may struggle with tasks like paying attention to instructions, focusing on schoolwork, keeping up with assignments, following instructions, and completing tasks.
At Balanced Manual Therapy, we offer gentle, holistic treatments that support ADHD and help adults and children to improve their focus, feel safe in their body, improve their sleep patterns, and reduce tension patterns around the cranial / facial bones. In certain cases, neonatal reflex techniques may be incorporated in each treatment.
Studies have shown that individuals with learning disabilities may have retained reflexes or recurring neonatal / primary reflexes. Optimally, these reflexes are inhibited (integrated) in the first months of life. Children can keep their primary reflexes for longer than necessary for optimal development.
Your practitioner may use quick, specific manual therapy techniques to inhibit these primary / infant reflexes.
