lymphatic drainage in Asheville NC

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a powerful holistic therapy designed to detoxify and support the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

The lymphatic system is a group of vessels, lymph nodes, organs, and tissues that protect you from infections and keep a healthy balance of fluids throughout the body. If your lymphatic system becomes compromised, so does your health. Many factors can impact your lymphatic system including poor diet, lack of exercise, toxins, viruses, autoimmune conditions, surgeries, medications, and chronic stress. Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help to signficantly reduce inflammation in the body, by increasing your body’s ability to clear stagnant fluids that cause swelling (edema).

The lymphatic system doesn’t circulate like blood or other bodily fluids, which means it relies on physical activity to properly move lymph fluid throughout the body, or Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

This form of treatment is beneficial for a wide range of conditions that are inflammatory in nature including sinusitis, allergies, food sensitivities, digestive issues, arthritis, chronic headaches, joint pain, hormonal imbalances, fatigue and more.

Are you a good candidate for Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

If you sit at a desk all day, or lead an inactive lifestyle, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy could benefit you. If you have recently undergone surgery, or are preparing for a procedure, Lymphatic Drainage could play a big role in your recovery process.  If you’re experiencing chronic headaches, allergies, sluggishness, swelling, digestive issues, or other inflammatory conditions, Lymphatic Drainage could benefit you.

Our bodies lymphatic system is the ultimate cleaner and detoxifier. When our lymph is flowing freely, our digestion is efficient, our skin is clear, our mood is improved, our organs are able to properly detox while we sleep, we don’t have aches or pains, we have more energy, we aren’t holding on to water weight and we generally feel our best! When we are dehydrated or burdening our bodies with unnecessary chemicals (knowingly or not) our lymphatic system has to go into overdrive just to try to compensate. Our lymph becomes sluggish and stagnant and our bodies begin to retain water, which in turn affects our overall health and immune system function.

FAQs

What to expect from a Lymphatic Drainage Treatment?

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a gentle, manual therapy geared towards supporting the immune system.  A significant portion of lymph fluid resides right under the skin, so the pressure applied is light in nature. The only exception is in the abdominal region where there are both superficial and deep lymph nodes. In general, most clients feel relaxed during the treatment, and experience major health shifts afterwards.

What type of detox symptoms can I expect post session?

This really depends on a number of factors including your current lifestyle and stress levels, dietary choices, medical history, autoimmune conditions, and how much toxicity is in your body.   The best way to avoid major detox symptoms is to drink plenty of water before and after your session, avoid major stimulants, and carve out some time to rest the body (before and after your session). Detox symptoms are common and may include fatigue, headaches, nauseas, or even flu like symptoms.  After the symptoms have subsided (your body has released the toxins), you should feel more energized, have less swelling and inflammation,  and experience improved functionality throughout the body.

How long does a typical Lymphatic Drainage Therapy session last?

A typical Lymphatic Drainage session lasts for 50minutes. Although this treatment is gentle in nature, it can have powerful effects on the body.  Hence, it is recommended not to overdue the duration of the session.  This is also the type of treatment that is most effective when you do it on a regular basis, especially if you are in chronic pain or are dealing with an inflammatory condition.  Balanced Manual Therapy offers discounted packages for those interested in experiencing long-term results from Manual Lymphatic Drainage.  Click here to book.

This depends on your health condition, and the severity of inflammation or depletion in your body.  That being said, I have always seen the best results after 3 treatments, which is why I offer the Package of 3 Lymphatic Drainage Therapy.

Can Any One Rreceive Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?

It depends on your medical history.
